Dr. Ross Flowers partners with Cal Maritime Athletics to provide valuable mental health and sports performance support
VALLEJO, Calif. – Dr. Ross Flowers, an experience clinical psychologist, sports and performance psychologist and executive coach, will partner with Cal Maritime's Department of Athletics and Physical Education to provide effective mental health and performance psychology practices for athletes, coaches and staff.
Dr. Flowers possesses extensive experience within the world of professional and college athletics by serving as the sports psychologist for the San Francisco Giants, mental health provider for the 2020 NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, director of sports performance psychology for the Los Angeles Clippers, mental health clinician for the Los Angles Rams and the NFL, senior sport psychologist for the United States Olympic Committee and sports performance psychologist for UCLA, Fresno State, San Diego State, UC Davis, CSUN and Long Beach State Athletics.

"I want to provide the opportunities, and resources to create the best possible undergraduate experience for all cadet-athletes, and support our university ambassadors throughout their time on campus."
Appointments with Dr. Flowers are available on an individual basis, or with an entire team during each campus visit — meetings that are designed to help everyone manage the academic and athletic expectations and pressures faced by student-athletes, incorporate strategies to identify mental health concerns, teach appropriate methods to address mental health issues and teach skills to support positive mental health development and become successful in life.
Cal Maritime is the first Cal Pac institution to incorporate Dr. Flower's developmental resource to promote the mental health, wellness and performance excellence of its cadet-athletes, coaches and staff.
Dr. Flowers holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Performance and Sports Psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
