NAIA honors four Cal Maritime teams for academic excellence

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The NAIA honored four of Cal Maritime's programs for their academic excellence and success in the classroom, throughout the 2022-23 academic year, by bestowing its Scholar Team Award to men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf and women's golf.

Friday's announcement was the first of many taking place throughout the rest of the month, by NAIA officials, as part of their annual National Awards program.

Under head coach Jeff Ward's tutelage, men's cross country and men's golf posted a 3.18 and 3.25 team GPA, respectively. The women's cross country team recorded a 3.16 GPA. Ward served as the head cross country coach until the 2022 season concluded, and started his tenure as the Keelhaulers' head men's golf coach shortly thereafter.  

Head women's golf coach Tammie Mansuy and the program's cadet-athletes ended last year with a 3.16 team GPA.
