Cal Maritime and Cal Poly Maritime Academy: What's in a name?

A lot of changes are taking place in Vallejo with Cal Maritime integrating with Cal Poly, as of July 1, 2025, which can create initial confusion.

Even though Cal Poly Maritime Academy is the institution's official name, all intercollegiate athletics team will keep the Cal Maritime moniker for the 2025-26 academic year, continue wearing blue and gold as their primary colors, using the Keelhaulers name and logo, as was the case in previous years.

The terms Cal Maritime, Keelhaulers and Cal Maritime Keelhaulers applies to intercollegiate athletics teams, staff and the department only, everything else on campus will use the references Cal Poly Maritime Academy, the official name of the institution, and Cal Poly Solano Campus, the university's location.
