Four Keelhaulers earn NAIA Fall Scholar-Athlete distinction
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four Cal Maritime student-athletes earned Fall Scholar-Athlete recognition from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics when organization officials unveiled their list of award recipients on Wednesday. Included within the list of NAIA honorees were women's soccer's Kate McGowan and three members of the men's soccer program: Ethan Anderson, Noah Anderson and Vincent Huff.
This is the first time all four earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the NAIA in their respective careers. McGowan, E. Anderson and Huff are sophomores, N. Anderson is a senior and will graduate this spring with a degree in mechanical engineering.
The NAIA's Scholar-Athlete program recognize excellence in the classroom by NAIA-member student-athletes who are sophomores or above in academic standing with a 3.5 residential cumulative GPA. Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.
Awards are presented annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for postseason competition.
McGowan and Huff are business administration majors, E. Anderson is majoring in marine engineering technology.
