Sports are important to me because they test my physical level of fitness, mental ability to constantly evaluate situations, and provoke leadership skills. I have participated in various sports since I was a little kid and plan on playing sports until I physically cannot, then a little longer. Regardless of which one, I would encourage everyone to partake in some kind of physical activity. They have made, and continue to make me a healthier, happier person.
The most memorable sports related achievement that immediately comes to mind is a championship qualifer soccer game that took place in Las Vegas in 2005. My soccer team seemed to constantly be struggling through the entire tournament, but all of our power, skill, and determination was clearly made visible during this match. We were playing our home-town rivals nearly six-hundred miles away. The match was a war for 90 minutes, but we overcame our struggles to win 2-0, and moved on to the final, which we also won. It's not a story of personal triumph, but an example of how hard work can move people, and teams to the top of the leader boards.
