Bio

One of the reasons why sports are so important to me is because they really brought my family together. One of my favorite moments was cheering for the Knicks with my dad in the playoffs while my brothers rooted for Reggie Miller's Pacers. The boxing matches, and Yankees World Series Championship I've watched with my dad are some of my most cherished memories and watching the Lakers win rings is some of the most fun I've ever had. Sports were always something we did together, whether it was batting practice with my brother and sister, or dominating the neighborhood gyms with my older brothers.

Another reason why sports are important is because it builds character and has taught me invaluable life lessons, like how to be a part of a team and how to push myself and really work hard for something. It has taught me about the competitive nature of the world and that sometimes I'll win, but, sometimes I will give my all and fall short. It has taught me that losing doesn't mean you're defeated, and winning has to do with more than the final score. I'm lucky to have learned these lessons in the context of a game.

I've won championships in parks and rec and high school, scored game winning shots, and won awards for my individual efforts, but, the most memorable sports achievement in my life was getting the opportunity to play for the California Maritime Academy. I feel that being here is a culmination of all my prior accomplishments and a product of all the hard work I've put in with my dad and alongside my brothers. My family is so proud of me for making it this far.

Being here has changed me because I feel like I no longer play for myself. I play for all the people who have and continue to put faith in me. In the short time I've been here, I've learned to take pride in everything I do.
