Keelhaulers Honored by Cal Pac, NAIA

Keelhaulers Recognized by Cal Pac Conference

After a historic season, the Cal Maritime men's basketball team was well represented as they placed four players on the All Conference team and won two prestigious awards. Seniors Josh Greenwell and Isaiah Moore were named to the first team. Senior Isaiah Johnson and junior Keven Campbell were named to the second team and head coach Bryan Rooney was named Cal Pac Coach of the Year. In addition, Greenwell was named the Defender of the Year for the conference.
Isaiah Moore was also recognized on the national level as he was named an Honorable Mention All American. This marks the second time in three years that Cal Maritime has had a men's basketball player receive All American recognition.

"As with all individual awards in a team sport, this recognition is a direct reflection of our team success. Josh, Isaiah, Keven, and Keven all had outstanding years and were very deserving. Our team has been built on defense and having Josh recognized as the top defender in the conference demonstrates his leadership in this area," commented Coach Rooney.

When asked about receiving the Coach of the Year award for the third time in four years, Rooney responded, "The bottom line is we had a great group of young men who worked extremely hard and assistant coaches whose work ethic was unmatched. Mike Warrington, Royster Martin, Justin Bayer, and Jesse West are extremely selfless men who I am fortunate to work with on a daily basis.

The Keelhaulers finished their record setting season with a trip to the NAIA National Tournament and became the first team in conference history to finish the regular season and post season undefeated. Cal Maritime will begin the 2012-13 season when they host the Keelhauler Classic on November 2nd.

Go Keelhaulers!
