Cal Maritime to Face UC Merced in Semi-Finals

By virtue of UC Merced's convincing 73-54 victory over Pacific Union College in Wednesday's night opening round game, Cal Maritime will host the Bobcats of UC Merced on Friday night at 7:30pm.

The two teams split their two regular season contests with UC Merced hitting a last second shot at home to defeat the Keelhaulers. Cal Maritime returned the favor with a home victory over UC Merced two weeks later. The Keelhaulers will be challenged defensively as the Bobcats have Aki Chambers, the conference's Player of the Year, leads the charge with an average of over 25 points and 8 rebounds per game. UC Merced is also ranked as the best offensive rebounding team in the conference.

Head Coach Bryan Rooney explained the challenge of playing the Bobcats, "UC Merced is playing as well as anyone in the conference. Aki Chambers is one of the best players to play in this conference in quite some time. However, they are much more than a one man show. We are in for quite a challenge but our players and staff are extremely excited about the opportunity."

Game time on Friday is scheduled for 7:30pm with the doors opening up at 6:30pm. Ticket prices for the game are as follows:
