California Pacific Conference Championship Set
When the season began several months ago, optimism was abundant for nearly every program in the country. This would include the members of the California Pacific Conference. However, after a grueling season only two teams are left standing for tonight's men's basketball championship. Cal Maritime and Menlo College will face off tonight at 7:30pm on the campus of Cal Maritime.
The two teams split their two regular season contests with Menlo's John Smith completing a three point play with twelve seconds remaining to secure a one point road victory over the Keelhaulers. In the first match up between the two teams, Cal Maritime proved victorious with a 58-51 win. The Keelhaulers defeated UC Merced 95-81 to advance to the championship game and Menlo had two overtime victories last week to earn a spot in the final game.
Head Coach Bryan Rooney explained the challenge of playing the Menlo, "Games between our two programs are always fiercely contested. Tonight will be no different. Menlo is playing very well right now and we know they will come in prepared and motivated. Our team understands that what has allowed us to get to this point is exactly what is needed to win a championship tonight."
Game time tonight is scheduled for 7:30pm with the doors opening up promptly at 6:30pm. Spectators will not be allowed to enter the gym until that time. Ticket prices for the game are as follows:
General Admission $10
