Three Keelhaulers Earn Academic All American Distinction

Three Cal Maritime seniors were among the 163 Division II Men's Basketball student-athletes to be named to the 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes team, the NAIA announced Monday. Zach Davis, Alec Fetzer, and Kameron Hoyt were the only California Pacific Conference players to earn the distinction on the annual postseason list.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

"We are incredibly proud of Zach, Alec, and Kameron. They are part of one of the best senior classes ever to wear a Keelhauler uniform and more importantly led us in the classroom as well. Their futures are extremely bright," commented Head Coach Bryan Rooney.
