Lucero, Hauser make Cal Pac 1st Team

Cal Maritime had two players make all-conference ranks in the Cal Pac as junior Josh Hauser and Sophomore Zavier Lucero each made first team all conference. Lucero was one of six players to be voted in unanimously by the Cal Pac coaches.

Lucero averaged just under 14 points per game in conference play which was good for 8th overall in the Cal Pac this season, and Hauser scored 12 points per game in Cal Pac play, which ranked 10th in the conference.

Hauser led the Keelhaulers with 108 assists on the season overall and finished 3rd in the Cal Pac with 59 assists in conference play, was 6th in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio, and with finished in the top 10 in three-point percentage at 30% and 5th in three pointers made in the Cal Pac. The Thousand Oaks, Calif. native also pulled down 5.2 rebounds per game in Cal Pac play which was good for 15th overall in the conference.

Lucero had nine double-doubles on the season and hauled down nine rebounds per game, both of which ranked 3rd in the Cal Pac. The Vallejo native finished 2nd on the conference in blocks with 1.57 per game, was 12th in the Cal Pac in steals, and finished 5th in free-throw percentage at 78.3 percent.

Both players were often go-to options at the end of the game or when the Keelhaulers needed a clutch shot. Hauser could catch fire from the top of the key at any moment and Lucero could score from anywhere on the floor and continued to add to his array of post moves.

With both slated to return to the Keelhaulers next season along with coach Brendan Rooney bringing in one of the most athletic recruiting classes the program has had the future looks bright for Cal Maritime Men's Basketball.
