"Scoring 1000 points is something special and I'm grateful to have the opportunity," Lucero said. "Without my coaches, teammates, family and friends I wouldn't have been able to accomplish it, so a lot of the credit goes to them. I have put a lot of work into this game and it has given me so much back in return. This is definitely a great accomplishment for me. I can only hope and work to make sure my future holds more accomplishments like it."
UAV gradually grew their lead in the first half before going up by double-digits with five minutes to go in the half and never looked back as the Keelhaulers struggled to score outside of Lucero.
The Rodriguez High product will get his next shot at the program scoring at home on Saturday, January 11 at 8:30 p.m. vs. La Sierra University.
