LANCASTER, Calif. – Cetrick Yeanay led all Keelhaulers with 14 points, by connecting on three of his four field goals from three, Miles Pennington and Angelo Nicandro each added another 11 in Monday's Cal Pac Men's Basketball Championship semifinal at the Pioneer Event Center.
The tournament's No. 1 seed, Saint Katherine, caught fire in the first half by hitting 55 percent of their shots and 46 percent from three, even with the Keelhaulers contesting most of those opportunities.
Even though Cal Maritime battled back throughout the second half, the Firebirds withstood those scoring surges and pulled away to record a 90-65 victory and advance to the league's championship playoff game.
The Keelhaulers end their stay in Lancaster, California, with a 13-9 overall record; USK now holds a 16-8 overall record.
