Miles Pennington and Lunden Taylor earn All-Cal Pac accolades

MESA, Ariz. – Senior forward Miles Pennington eared All-Cal Pac Conference First Team honors and graduate student guard Lunden Taylor was named to the Honorable Mention list when league officials announced their all-conference selections at Bell Bank Park, site of the Cal Pac Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championship during the event's awards banquet, which took place during the tournament's off day.

In the final season of his collegiate career, the Linda, California native averaged a career-high 15.0 points per game, a figure that ranked him No. 3 among all league players. He led the league with 98 overall free throws made and his total of 80 recorded against Cal Pac opposition, posted the second-highest individual points total (406), ranked No. 6 this season with 124 defensive rebounds and No. 8 in total rebounds (160).

Pennington also led the team with his 1.0 steals per game average at the end of the regular season.

When Cal Maritime hosted Saint Katherine at home during the opening week of Cal Pac play, Pennington recorded a season-high 23 points and collected seven rebounds. Two days later against the Warriors, he notched his third career double-double by posting game-high totals of 13 points and 11 boards. Those performances led to Cal Pac Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career when the conference announced its selection on December 5.

Taylor scored 73 points at the free throw line, the 17th-highest total, shot .459 from the floor, a top-20 percentage among all league players and averaged 11.3 ppg — a scoring average that ranked the Fresno native No. 19 for the 2022-23 season once the regular season concluded in his first season at Cal Maritime.

In addition to posting the highest three-point percentage (.378), Taylor only trailed Pennington's scoring average and free throws made total among all Keelhaulers. The graduate transfer also posted the second-highest overall shooting percentage on the team entering the league's postseason tournament.
