VALLEJO, Calif. – After ending its inaugural Cal Pac homestand of the season on Wednesday, men's basketball will experience a quick turnaround for its next league matchup, taking place Friday night at Simpson. Tipoff inside the James M. Grant Center in Redding will take place at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to playing twice within a three-day timespan (plus a sizable round-trip drive from Vallejo to the Red Hawks' home), the Keelhaulers also face a couple of unique situations that are out of their control.
Once action concludes tomorrow night, men's basketball will not return to action until December 30, at Pacific, in a designated exhibition event. Taking place between its next two games are finals week — no cadet-athlete can participate in an organized intercollegiate competition, per university policy — and CSUM's holiday break.
In the team's case, everyone will enjoy a truncated version since practices and games will take place throughout the final weeks of December and inaugural week of January until the cadet population returns for the start of the new semester.
Combined with U.S. Coast Guard set-up, exams and tear-down process, CSUM next home game is scheduled for January 18 versus Benedictine Mesa. On the flip side of playing the next six straight away from campus, the Keelhaulers will enjoy a home-heavy schedule throughout the following month with six of nine games taking place inside PEAC Main Gym.
Of the three road games within that timespan, one involves a short trip, relatively speaking, to UC Merced since the other two will take place in Southern California.
