Lucky Hampton named to All-Cal Pac Second Team
VALLEJO, Calif. – Throughout league play, junior guard Lucky Hampton showcased on a consistent basis that he was one of the top multifaced talents in the California Pacific Conference. On Friday, the league rewarded Hampton for his hard work by naming him to its All-Cal Pac Second Team.
This is the first all-conference honor earned by the Richmond, California native throughout his Cal Maritime career.
Against conference opponents, Hampton led the Keelhaulers in scoring with his 13.9 points per game average — the ninth-highest figure among all Cal Pac players — shot .492 percent overall and a team-high .400 from three (min. 10 attempts).
Those figures ranked him seventh, eighth and 13th, respectively, compared to his conference counterparts in league play.
He also averaged 4.7 rebounds per game against Cal Pac foes — the third-highest clip among all CSUM players and the highest average for a non-post player.
One of three players named a starter on a team-high 20 occasions and one of four to earn playing time in all 27 games played throughout the 2023-24 campaign, no player scored more points this past season than Hampton and his 307.
He also ranked third on the team with his overall shooting percentages for the year: .480 from the floor, .400 from three and .807 at the free throw line.
Hampton's 107 total rebounds is the second-highest total on the team, trailing only Justice Cole by eight; a team-high 85 were collected on the defensive glass.
Led by his career-high 25 points scored against Embry-Riddle — home fans saw him shoot .500 pct. overall, .400 pct. behind the arc and .750 pct. at the stripe that night — Hampton posted 20 or more points five times throughout his junior season and in four of the team's last six played.
In all, he finished with a double-figure scoring total in 14 games and set another career high this season, at Saint Katherine, when he collected a game-high 10 rebounds.
