Sports are important in my life because they were my main source of communicating with others when I was younger; that remains true for me to this day. I met my best friends playing high school sports and learned plenty of lessons about life that I don't believe can be learned in an easier fashion than by means of sports. I attribute much of the enjoyment I have had in life and a great deal of my relationships to sports.

My most memorable sports achievement was earning MVP of my track team my senior year of high school. Set against a personally fruitless year as a football and basketball player, it was a great feeling to win an individual honor like this on a team that had won a league championship. I felt like I had made my biggest contribution here. As a person and athlete, it was an example of how working hard at anything will, in the end, yield far better results than simply having natural ability. For me, it reaffirmed that work ethic is much more important in any setting, athletic, academic, or occupational.
