Why are sports so important in your life:
Sports are important in my life for multiple reasons. Being on a sports team gives you a sense of family and being a part of something. When you are on a team, there are other guys that are counting on you and if you do not show up for a practice or give it your all in practice you are letting them down. With the sense of family and being held accountable, I have learned a lot about responsibility and giving up yourself for others. Sports have also influenced me a lot with my leadership skills. On a team you have captains, but sometimes others need to step up and help out. I have played sports for the last fifteen years and through all of my experiences I believe that I am a pretty sound leader, and without sports I know that I would not be the same person today.
What is the most memorable sports achievement in your life and has it changed you as a person and athlete?
My most memorable sports moment was my junior year in high school during a match with our rivals. I had been having a pretty decent match and was one stroke down on the other guy. We stepped up to the sixteenth hole, which was a 250 yd. par four. Once I took my tee shot, the ball soared towards the green. It hit about five yards short and rolled up onto the green and into the cup. I went crazy! I was so ecstatic with what I had just done and felt so good about myself. I have been playing golf for a very long time, and the first thing I did after the match was call my grandpa. He was the reason that I started golfing and I was so proud when I told him. After this shot, I have looked at golfing a new way. Now that I have the biggest accomplishment in golf I no longer have to push my limits. I play a much safer game now and I am more conservative when playing. This is one moment in my life I will never forget!
