McNally posts second-lowest individual score, Keelhaulers finish fourth
PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Benicia native James McNally enjoyed an outstanding start to the 2021-22 season when Cal Maritime traveled to Prescott, Arizona, to compete in the Embry-Riddle Invitational, hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
In Tuesday's final round, the freshman golfer recorded the only under-par score among all individual competitors when he posted a 2-under 69 on Antelope Hills North Course's 6,844-yard layout. With that result, McNally finished this three-day event tied for second, and jumped four spots on the leaderboard compared to where he started the third round.
As a team, Cal Maritime posted its best round of the tournament with its 333, which led to a fourth-place finish.
The tournament hosts were responsible for the lowest individual and team finish; led by Trevor Lewis' 4-under (209), the only individual who broke par this week, Embry-Riddle edged Redlands, by three strokes, by finishing 21-over (873).
Arizona Christian finished third with a team score of 944, followed by Cal Maritime and its 1,019.
