Keelhaulers head to Redding for Cal Pac Championship
California Pacific Conference Men's Golf Championship

VALLEJO, Calif. – After traveling to Arizona in recent months for spring season competition, Cal Maritime men's golf's next trip will seem like a breeze since the team will head to Redding for the Cal Pac Men's Golf Championship.
The Keelhaulers will play 18 holes a day, from April 11-13 at Gold Hills Golf Club, and battle defending team and individual champion Embry-Riddle, Antelope Valley, Benedictine Mesa, Marymount California, Park University – Gilbert, Providence Christian, Sierra Nevada and tournament host Simpson for this year's league crown and a berth at the NAIA's national tournament.
The 70th annual Men's Golf National Championship is slated for May 17-20 and will take place at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
Men's golf will return to action after finishing ninth in its previous tournament, the ERAU Spring Invite, which featured five Cal Pac squads: Embry-Riddle, Park University – Gilbert, Marymount California, the Keelhaulers and Sierra Nevada. Even though the host Eagles were responsible for the two lowest individual scores, that team finished second, 17 strokes behind Ottawa University (AZ).
By finishing with a 3-under 140 on that par 72 course — even though snow forced the cancellation of the first round, golfers were able to squeeze in 18 holes in each of the following two days — James McNally led the Keelhaulers' contingent by finishing tied for ninth.
The league's year-end tournament is a bittersweet occasion for one cadet-athlete since this will mark Ricky Castillo's final Cal Pac appearance. The senior from Antioch, who received the team's Leadership Award at the school's Winter-Spring Athletics Banquet, will graduate from Cal Maritime in a handful of weeks.
