McNally leads field with 10 birdies; CSUM secures sixth at Cal Pac Men’s Golf Championship

BOULDER CITY, Nevada – Led by James McNally who ended the Cal Pac Men's Golf Championship in Boulder City, Nevada, tied for sixth with a 13-over 229, Cal Maritime ended the three-day tournament, hosted by Soka, in sixth place.

Shortly after the tournament concluded, Cal Pac officials announced this year's All-Academic Team, a list of talents that included junior marine transportation major Jake Banich and McNally, a sophomore majoring in business administration.

During his final tour of Boulder Creek Golf Club — the league's year-end tournament took place on its Desert Hawk and Coyote Run courses, both par 72s with a 6,853-yard layout — McNally birdied the the par-5 551-yard 13th hole, a score that was sandwiched between a pair of pars and another one on his final hole of the tournament.

The Benicia native staked his place near the top of the leaderboard from the moment the Championship commenced on Monday; what started with a birdie on his inaugural home of the week and continued with a 3-under front nine on Monday ended with a 1-over 73, which placed McNally second overall with one round completed.

McNally's steady second round ended with a pair of birdies on holes 17 and 18, which capped a 1-over back nine on Tuesday.

Banich, Nate Metcalf and Brennan White ended their stay in Boulder City by finishing 25th, 26th and 27th with respective 54-hole scores of 254 (38-over), 269 (53-over) and 271 (55-over).

Embry-Riddle won its third-straight team title, and eighth in the last 10 years; the Eagles' Tyler Macpherson also won the individual crown by edging his teammate, Joseph Allen, by one shot.
