VALLEJO, Calif. – Rugby fans are invited to enjoy a special day this weekend when Cal Maritime hosts UC Santa Cruz in its final game of the fall season. Before this game begins, the program will honor a select group of individuals as part of Faculty Appreciation Day.

In a pregame ceremony, Valerie Holl-McGowan, Elizabeth McNie, Don Maier, Assis Malaquias, Keir Moorhead, Ariel Setniker, Joshua Shackman, Ryan Storz and Ryan Wade will join a group of cadet-athletes that will share their gratitude, and appreciation, for all their hard work, dedication, and respective roles in creating the best possible undergraduate experience at Cal Maritime.

Once competition begins, the Keelhaulers will look to end its brief two-game homestand the exact same way it started last Friday against Sonoma State with another attention-grabbing victory.

Last week, Cal Maritime scored 21 unanswered points before Sonoma State climbed back into contention midway through the second half by pulling within two points of the Keelhaulers.

Rugby provided the perfect response to the Seawolves' surge by earning the final 14 points of the night to pull away and record a 40-24 victory in front of a raucous home crowd.

Once action concludes on Saturday, fans are encouraged to stick around to watch the back half of the day's doubleheader when Humboldt State squares off against New Mexico Tech, at 1:30 p.m., in a Pac West Regional Championship game.

Admission is free for Saturday's doubleheader until 12 p.m. Tickets for the championship game are $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and non-Cal Maritime students.

There is no charge for Cal Maritime cadets with a valid ID.
