VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime's Men's 7s rugby team will face the nation's top program when it heads to New Orleans, during Memorial Day Weekend, to compete at the Collegiate Rugby Championship.

Commonly referred to as May Madness, the country's largest collegiate tournament will run from May 28-30 at Shrine on Airline Stadium.  The Men's 7 squad earned its berth at the national championship last month thanks to victories against Pacific, Stanford, UC Santa Cruz before defeating New Mexico Tech in the championship game of the Boise State qualifier.

By winning that tournament, the Keelhaulers punched their ticket to New Orleans.

Representing Cal Maritime that weekend are seniors Josh Bates, Nate Bond, Andrew Cavinta, JJ Graves, Jacob Jenkins, Jacob Pina, Jonah Wolfe, junior Jerry McLarnon, freshmen Gavin Murray, Ryan Packard, Wilson Urkov, and Larry Ward III.

The Keelhaulers' path to a national championship will commence on Saturday, May 28 at 1:44 p.m. PT/3:44 p.m. CT when they square off against Minnesota in the opening round of Men's Premier Cup action. The winner of this matchup will face either Mount St. Mary's or West Chester the following day.
