Rugby sets 2022 15s schedule
VALLEJO, Calif. – Four home events, starting with its season opener on Saturday, September 17 at Bodnar Field vs. Berkeley Men's RFC, highlight a seven-game fall 15s season for Cal Maritime's rugby team, as announced by head coach Steve Hiatt on Wednesday.
Following their inaugural home event of the year, the Keelhaulers will head to Stockton, California, as one of seven teams competing in the Pacific Preseason Tournament (Sept. 24). Specific opponents for that event are TBD as of August 30; also participating in this event are Cal Poly Humboldt, Cal State Monterey Bay, Pacific, San José State and Sonoma State.
A home-heavy month of October, which features games on all five weekends, will commence against Chico State (Oct. 1) and continue at Cal Poly Humboldt (Oct. 8). Games at Bodnar Field will take place the next two weeks when Cal State Monterey Bay (Oct. 15) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Oct. 21) visit Vallejo.
Rugby's final game of the regular season will take place at Sonoma State (Oct. 29) — the team's final opportunity to clinch a berth at the Pacific Western Conference Regional Championship. The league's postseason tournament will take place in Salt Lake City on November 19 and 21.
Houston is the site of this season's national championship tournament, a weekend-long event that starts on Friday, December 9.
