VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime will head to rival Cal Poly Humboldt for its first official game of the season when these teams square off at Redwood Bowl in Arcata, California, in Friday night's Pacific Western Conference contest.
Leading up to this week's matchup, the Keelhaulers faced Berkeley Men's RFC an Chico State in a pair of home exhibition events, in addition to playing three combined abridged games against the Lumberjacks and Cal State Monterey Bay two weeks ago in the Pacific Preseason Tournament.
In last year's meeting at Bodnar Field, it was CPH who defeated Cal Maritime to earn a spot in the league's championship game, against New Mexico Tech, to earn the league's automatic bid for the national championship tournament.
This year, it is CSUM's turn to make the trip to its opponent's turf in this battle between the conference's top two programs.
Once the Keelhaulers return home, their next two games will take place on campus, starting with the team's Alumni Weekend game (October 15) against Cal State Monterey Bay. That game will take place following that day's home soccer doubleheader and slated to begin at 2:45 p.m.
Rugby will host Southern California powerhouse Claremont-Mudd-Scripps the following week in Cal Maritime's Senior Night game, scheduled on Friday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m.
