Senior Night ends with a 48-14 victory for the Keelhaulers
VALLEJO, Calif. – Prior to the start of Friday's Pacific Western Conference game at Bodnar Field, Cal Maritime honored eight seniors — Colby Glaze, Danny Guzman, Dominic Jenevein, Miles Krauter, Jerry McLarnon, Terrance Merrill, Luke Sandie and Justin Zmina — in a pregame ceremony.
Once action began, the Keelhaulers wasted no time in lighting up the scoreboard when Anthony Perez scored the first of 26 unanswered points in the first half just four-plus minutes after the opening whistle, which ended with a 48-14 victory for the Keelhaulers.
Five minutes after Perez' try, McLarnon added to CSUM's lead, pushing his team's advantage to 14 points, following another conversion from Connor Hannon.
Following 15 minutes of back-and-forth action, it was Wilson Urkov's who recorded Cal Maritime's next try, following by another from Hannon less than two minutes later, which extended a comfortable lead to a sizable 26-point cushion following his conversion.
Hannon struck again shortly after the second half commenced; CSUM scored 31 unanswered points until Sonoma State stole a Keelhauler pass, which led to the Seawolves' inaugural points of the night.
As was the case up until that unfortunate play, Cal Maritime quickly regained momentum and continue to dominate play for the rest of the night, starting with Merrill's try, which pushed the Keelhaulers' lead back to 31 with 30 minutes left to play.
These two teams will meet again next week, but Cal Maritime is the visiting team when it heads to Rohnert Park for next Saturday's (Oct. 29) 1 p.m. matchup.
