VALLEJO, Calif. – There is no hyperbole attached to the following statement: Saturday's 1 p.m. matchup at Bodnar Field is the marquee game of the weekend because it pits No. 17-ranked Cal Maritime against Cal Poly Humboldt — the defending national champions and third-ranked team in the nation.

Saturday's game also marks the final regular season home game for a pair of Keelhaulers who will graduate this year: Matt Rizzi, a four-year member of the program and Matthew Ettlin-Loveton who spent the last three years playing rugby

Fans are encouraged to arrive to Bodnar Field by 12:45 p.m. to help rugby honor its graduating seniors and a group of individuals who play a key role in shaping the undergraduate experience for all cadets as part of its Faculty Appreciation Day pregame recognition.

Annual matchups between these teams often become instant classics, and this weekend's clash is shaping up to become another memorable battle, especially since this game is the last challenge for CSUM before the Men's Small College West Regional, also taking place on campus November 18 and 19.

The Keelhaulers return to their home turf following a pair or road games at Pacific, one they won by a 76-0 result and another that took place at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps — another contest involving one of the country's top programs.

Regardless of who wins this weekend's game, both will return to Bodnar Field later this month to compete in this year's West Regional. However, this weekend's victor will draw the lowest seed and in theory, an easier matchup, leading up to the championship game.
