Keelhaulers drop home opener to Arizona State
VALLEJO, Calif. – Ryan Packard scored the first points for Cal Maritime at home this season by splitting a pair of Sun Devils, 23 minutes into the first half of Saturday's home opener vs. Arizona State. Shortly before halftime, Wilson Urkov intercepted a Sun Devils pass and sprinted across two-thirds of the field to score another try for the Keelhaulers.
Those plays helped negate early scoring opportunities from ASU as it started the game by recorded 21 unanswered within the first 10 minutes of action, ultimately winning the matchup by a 76-19 score.
By scoring CSUM's first try of the second half, Urkov was responsible for 10 of the Keelhaulers' points.
Cal Maritime's final two games of the season will take place at Bodnar Field, starting with next Saturday's (March 1) 1:30 p.m. contest vs. San José State.
