Soccer Team Loses Non-League Match

Bethesda Christian Blank Cal Maritime 4-0 for their first Loss of the Season

The Keelhaulers played the first of their tough non-conference schedule Tuesday night, hosting Bethesda Christian University.

The visitors came into the game having posted an impressive record to begin their season, and started the game enjoying loads of position. Maritime struggled to cope with the speed of the game, but was able to frustrate Bethesda until a spectacular strike from just outside the box opened the scoring.

Bethesda would strike again just before half time when a mistake in the Maritime defense gifted the visitors another goal.

Although Bethesda would score twice more in the second half, Cal Maritime put on an impressive second half performance. Once the Keelhaulers adjusted to the high tempo pace of play they kept more control of the ball. The Maritime passing attack caused more than a few problems for the visitors.

In the end Bethesda deserved to win, but the Keelhaulers continue to improve their performance each game. The Maritime team hopes to continue their conference winning streak when they travel to play Simpson University this coming Saturday in Redding.
