Keelhaulers clipped by Red Hawks in Cal Pac play

VALLEJO, Calif. - The Cal Maritime men's soccer team fell to Simpson 3-0 in California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) play on Friday night at Bodnar Field.

The Keelhaulers move to 0-8-1 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

Luka Bilaver had an opportunity to put the Keelhaulers ahead in the 11th minute, finding space at the top of the box on a counter attack. He attempted to volley a bouncing ball, but the effort missed high and to the left.

Simpson's Jesus Rodriguez put the Red Hawks ahead in the 14th minute before Brenno Rosselli headed in a corner kick to make it 2-0 before the half.

Trailing 3-0 in the second half, Bilaver was tackled from behind on the top of the box, earning a free kick. Cal Maritime sent two players to run over the ball on the restart before Ronald Squier fired a low shot around the wall, just missing the left post.

Simpson improves to 8-6-1 overall and 6-3-1 in Cal Pac play.

Cal Maritime faces Pacific Union on Sunday afternoon in Angwin at 12pm. The Keelhaulers' home finale is set for Sunday, Nov. 7 at 3:30pm against UC Merced.
