Nikhil Hunter joins Cal Maritime men's soccer
VALLEJO, Calif. – Issaquah, Washington native Nikhil Hunter will continue his athletics and academic career at Cal Maritime this fall, as announced by Head Men's Soccer Coach Mike Carvalho, after the Issaquah High School standout signed with the Keelhaulers.
"I was attracted to the focused and structured International Business and Logistics program at Cal Maritime," said Hunter. "Coach Mike did a great job, during the recruitment process, of sharing what the men's soccer program and university provides cadets throughout their undergraduate career."
The Phi Theta Kappa honoree is a center midfielder who competed for five club teams — Pacific Northwest Soccer Club, Seattle Sounders FC Academy, Fulham FC, Cre8tive FA and Crossfire SC — throughout his soccer career before committing to Cal Maritime.
While competing for Cre8tive FA, he helped the U16 team win a Cyrille Regis Super Cup in the London Youth Premier league in addition to an EPL Academy Conference title.
When he returned to the United States in 2020, he was part of a Crossfire SC U16 squad that won an ECNL Las Vegas Showcase championship and a ECNL U17 Northwest Conference crown. As his club career continued, Hunter also played a key role in winning an ECNL U19 Regional League Conference title.
