Nicolas de Simas' signing strengthens men's soccer's incoming class
VALLEJO, Calif. – Rohnert Park native Nicolas de Simas is a new member of Cal Maritime men's soccer after signing with the Keelhaulers, as announced by Head Men's Soccer Coach Mike Carvalho. The team's new forward/midfielder arrives to campus following a successful career at Credo High School.
"When I first visited Cal Maritime, I really liked the field, dorms and campus. Everything here was amazing," said de Simas. "When I put on my cleats and kicked the ball around at Bodnar Field, I knew this was the place for me."
In addition to leading CHS's soccer team in scoring the last two seasons, de Simas de Simas played for Briceño Soccer Club throughout the latter portion of his high school career. Combined with his tenure at Santa Rosa United, he played a key role in helping his club teammates win a State Cup and Monarcas Cup (Super Group) championships.
Added de Simas, regarding his expectations as a Keelhauler once his college career commences, "I want to do everything I can to prepare for the season and fully embrace my new home."
de Simas plans to begin his professional career in the field of oceanography, which made his decision to attend Cal Maritime an easy one due to the reputation and strength of the university's undergraduate program.
