Local standout signs with the Keelhaulers
VALLEJO, Calif. – Briceño Soccer Club and Technology High School standout Fabian Garcia will remain local to continue his academic and athletic career after signing with Cal Maritime, as announced by Head Men's Soccer Coach Mike Carvalho.
"It is starting to hit me that I am about to join this men's soccer program," said Garcia, who hails from Cotan, California. "I am interested in marine transportation, and this school has a great program. When I visited campus and met the players, I really liked what Cal Maritime offered."
A familiar face will join the six-foot-tall goalkeeper on campus this fall since Briceño teammate, Nicolas de Simas, also committed to the Keelhaulers this spring.
"It's a great feeling knowing someone who wants to attend the same college and play on the same team as me. It is comforting knowing that I will share my Cal Maritime experience with [Nicolas]."
Garcia earned numerous awards throughout his high school career, starting with his selection to the All-North Central League team in 2019, 2021 and 2022. When his senior season concluded, league officials selected him as its MVP.
Garcia's prowess in goal also helped his club teams capture NorCal State Cup, Manchester City Cup, Sporting Invitational, Mayor's Cup, Copa Del Rey, Folsom Invitational, Sunstroke Classic, Davis Super Clasico Legacy championships.
