VALLEJO, Calif. – A busy weekend of soccer that includes a two road games, in as many days, will begin on Sunday when men's soccer heads to PUC Field in Angwin to face its rival, Pacific Union, in a 12:30 p.m. Cal Pac Conference contest. Once that game concludes, the Keelhaulers will have just over 25 hours to rest, recover and prepare for their next game, slated for 4 p.m. in Atherton against the Menlo Oaks.
These games are part of the team's current season-long five game road swing, which started in Arizona last weekend against Benedictine Mesa, Park Gilbert, and concludes on Sept. 30 when the Keelhaulers head to Soka in the first of two Southern California trips taking place in 2022.
Entering this week's schedule, Pacific Union is also seeking its first conference victory of the season after dropping a pair of games to Embry-Riddle (3-2) and Benedictine Mesa (5-1) last weekend. Starting with Thursday's game against Park Gilbert, the Pioneers are entering a home-heavy portion of its 2022 slate that includes five of the next six games on their home turf.
Pacific Union enters the week with a 0-5-1 overall record; its draw took place earlier this month at Holy Names. The other results took place against Bushnell, Menlo and William Jessup.
Cal Maritime's penultimate non-conference matchup of the season will take place at Wunderlich Field when it squares off against Menlo Monday afternoon. Boasting a 3-2-2 overall mark of their own, all three of the Oaks' wins took place at home. Starting with its 6-0 shutout over Pacific Union, Menlo topped fellow Cal Pac colleagues Antelope Valley and Westcliff, 4-0 and 4-1, before finishing with a 3-3 tie versus, UC Santa Cruz on September 17, in its last game played.
As was the case with its contests against the Cal Pac's trio, Menlo's last result against the Banana Slugs took place at home.
Led by Levin Ledergerber and Basil Merk with three, 11 Oaks scored a goal this season.
Following its game at Soka, Cal Maritime's schedule is filled with home games: Including its first four played during the month of October, Bodnar Field will host seven of the team's final nine regular-season games.
