Keelhaulers fall 3-2 to Golden Eagles in Cal Pac opener

RIVERSIDE (9-29) – The Keelhaulers would wrap up a three match road trip as they started California Pacific Conference play in Riverside against La Sierra University. The Golden Eagles won 3-0 over the Keelhaulers.
In the first half, the Golden Eagles would get on the scoreboard in the ninth minute on an Isaac Pineda shot after an Anthony Antunez assist. The remainder of the half was played primarily in the Golden Eagles' offensive zone as the Golden Eagles outshot the Keelhaulers 7-1 in the opening half. The Golden Eagles led 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles would extend their lead in the 52nd minute on a Caden Stephens-Bennett shot after an assist from Damian Romero. In the 68th minute, Ulises Morales would score the final tally of the match after an assist from Romero. The final chance for the Keelhaulers to score came in the 87th minute but Noah Anderson's header went high over the crossbar.
Masaya Nitta got the win for the Golden Eagles while Fabian Garcia got the loss for the Keelhaulers. The Golden Eagles outshot the Keelhaulers 21-3 and the Golden Eagles had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Keelhaulers will return home to the friendly confines of Bodnar Field as they continue California Pacific Conference play. The Keelhaulers will take on Westcliff University at 7:30 pm on Friday.
