Ott strikes early for Cal Maritime; Keelhaulers enter Cal Pac play with momentum

VALLEJO, Calif. – A leading pass from Sam Jauregui to Nico De Simas, who found Davis Ott with a cross in front of the goal led to a one-timer for the first goal of Thursday's non-conference matchup at Bodnar Field.

Cal Maritime's one-goal advantage held though halftime until Lincoln (CA) equalized two minutes after halftime.

Back-and-forth action continued though the rest of the night with the Keelhaulers narrowly missing on a handful of scoring opportunities to regain the lead throughout the next 20-plus minutes, until the visiting Oaklanders took the lead for good with a curling kick from just inside the box that landed in the upper-right hand corner of the goal.

Cal Maritime crated additional scoring chances in the 15 minutes that followed Lincoln (CA)'s tiebreaking shot, but the Oaklanders escaped Vallejo with a 2-1 win.

Seven of Cal Maritime's 15 shots were saved by Lincoln (CA), the Keelhaulers finished with five saves out of the Oaklanders' 16 shots.

Men's soccer's homestand will continue Saturday with its 4:30 p.m. Cal Pac opener versus Simpson.
