Cross Country takes 1st at PUC Invitational

Last Sunday, Cal Maritime cross country ran their second race of the season at the PUC Invite, in the hills above Napa Valley. The evening races ran through the tough, hilly trails surrounding the PUC campus. This will be one of the toughest courses the team faces all year.
The Men's team took first place, competing against PUC, Simpson University, and several unattached runners. Dylan Croeni took third place overall, with an 8K time of 29:35. Charlie Wiswall finished second for the team with a time of 31:39, after recovering from a fall around the 2 mile mark. Alfonso Gonzalez (32:00), and Mike Anderson (32:48) came in 3rd and 4th for the team. Daniel Kaplan (33:00), Stephan Rosenfeld (33:03), and PJ Jaarsma (33:05) rounded out the top seven, finishing together in an exciting sprint to the finish.
The women's team competed against Simpson University, PUC, and Menlo College. Alexa Magda led the women's team finishing with a 5K time of 25:09. Chrissy Edmiston Finished second for the team with a time of 27:06 in her first collegiate race. She was followed by Gwyn Curry (28:26), Kelly Amezquita (29:31), and Elexa Jeffrey (31:18).
The Keelhaulers will run this Saturday, at the Sonoma State Invitational in Santa Rosa, CA.
