ROCKLIN, Calif. – Cal Maritime's cross country teams returned to action in Saturday's William Jessup Invite, hosted by William Jessup at the On Campus Course. In this season-opening event the men finished fifth and the women recorded individual results.

Freshman Michael Lipinski posted the top time for the men by completing the 8k course in 30:59.50, the 19th-fastest result. Trevor Hodges was the 28th runner to cross the line, followed by Harry Bragg (36th), Kye McKeown (38th), and the quartet of Logan Flaxington, Reid Zieber, Andrew Scannell and Caleb Silbernagel, who placed 42nd-45th.

On the women's side, Safari Frisell covered 6k in 34:56.30 to finish 33rd, two places before Mele Tuimaunei who completed her inaugural meet as a Keelhauler. Raven Frisell completed Cal Maritime's contingent by finishing 38th.

Both teams will return to action next Sunday when they head to Angwin to complete in a head-to-head meet against Pacific Union on the Pioneers' home course.
