Bio
Sports have been a huge part of my life since I was little. My mother, being a P.E. teacher always pushed me to try new sports and have different experiences. Though one sport has always been there when I tried others, sailing. I absolutely love sailing and it has been part of my life forever. Its been really fun, not only because of winning regattas, but also the people you meet and the friends you make. I think that's why sports, sailing especially are important to my life. I love being able to participate and enjoy a sport with other people that I have met and feel just a passionately about the sport as I do.
I think the most memorable sports achievement in my life was creating, getting support and winning with a Keelboat team I created at Long Beach Yacht Club. I have worked there for a few years as a sailing instructor and a few of the instructors and I were thinking of a way to help our sailors who had outgrown their sabots to get to the next level of sailing competition. So with the encouragement of some fellow instructors and the help of some of the older sailors who are also club members, I was able to convince the Yachting Committee to fund a new Junior Sailing Keelboat Program. For the first year, the instructors and a few advanced sabot sailors along with an adult sailor competed in various regattas aboard Catalina 37s. We entered our first regatta, Charity Regatta, and won. It was such an amazing feeling having a project of mine with such scale to succeed in a sport I love.
