Corinthian Yacht Club Mid-Winters Regatta
Cal Maritime Offshore Sailing Team participated in the Corinthian Yacht Club Mid-Winters Regatta aboard our One Design 48 February 19-20. This was designed to be a team building and training exercise for the upcoming harbor cup event. We were very lucky to sail against the sister ship to our boat which was recently renamed Bodacious. It was a sort of "One Design" race between the two of us, much like how it will be at harbor cup, only against 8 others.
Saturday it was raining all day, but we toughed it out and sailed. It was about 5 knots of breeze at the start then it completely died and we drifted around for a little bit until we got to the next couple of puffs, which helped us pass our competitors and brought us all the way to the finish line.
Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day. It was sunny and the breeze picked up to 15 knots at the start. We had a difficult first upwind beat and downwind run but ended up passing our competitors in the last 5 yards to the finish line.
