VALLEJO, Calif. - Cal Maritime Athletics is proud to partner with the Los Angeles Yacht Club for the 2022 Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup, scheduled for March 11-13 in San Pedro, California. After a one-year hiatus due to COVID, this regatta returns to the Port of Los Angeles for its 15th year.
Throughout this three-day 10-race event, defending champion Cal Maritime will face College of Charleston (2019 winner), Navy (2018), U.S. Coast Guard, Massachusetts Maritime, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly and Hawai'i. Making their Harbor Cup debuts in 2022 are Maryland and Rhode Island. These 10 teams will test the challenging waters of the Pacific, racing aboard a fleet of identical Catalina 37s – one-design keelboats utilized in the prestigious Congressional Cup regatta.
The Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup kicks-off on Friday, March 11, with a skippers' meeting and practice before the first of 10 windward-leeward races commences on the Pacific Ocean course outside Angels' Gate at 1:30 p.m. Racing will continue Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13, beginning at 11:30 a.m. each day.
Point Fermin Park on Paseo Del Mar in San Pedro provides an excellent viewing location for spectators.
