VALLEJO, Calif. – All eyes are on Cal Maritime once it arrives to Annapolis, Maryland, for this year's Kennedy Cup since the Keelhaulers are the defending (and four-time) champions.

Also making the trip to the Robert Crown Sailing Center for this weekend's regatta, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy, are the Coast Guard, College of Charleston, Kings Point, Massachusetts Maritime, Michigan, Navy, New York Maritime, Rhode Island and Toledo.

Taking place at Chesapeake Bay off the mouth of the Severn River, first warning on Saturday will take place at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT; Sunday's first warning is set for 10:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT with no race starting after 2 p.m. ET/11a.m. PT. An awards presentation honoring the top three teams is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.

After finishing the first day of competition in second place at last year's regatta, Cal Maritime erased its six-point deficit against Rhode Island throughout Sunday's action to win by a one-point margin.

Even though the Rams held a six-point advantage after four races, the Keelhaulers finished third and second in the opening pair of Sunday's races and capped the afternoon by finishing first in the seventh, and final race, to end its weekend with 24 team points and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Trophy.

In addition to last year's regatta, Cal Maritime captured titles in 2009, '13 and '15.
