Keelhaulers overcome rocky start to finish fourth at the Northern Designate
SAN FRANCISCO – Even though Cal Maritime posted a 13th-place finish in the second race of the Northern Designate, hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club, it recorded four top-five results within the final six races to secure fourth place during this in-conference weekend regatta.
Freshmen Logan Chapman, Kyle Farmer, Chris Shintani and junior Max Roth represented Cal Maritime.
A total of 14 races took place throughout the weekend; the Keelhaulers posted their top results, in each division, during the regatta's homestretch. The best overall and A Division finish took place in that group's final race when CSUM placed second, the previous race saw the Keelhaulers post third in the B Division's penultimate race of the weekend.
Cal Maritime Sailing will return to action on Saturday, March 18, when it opens the two-day Sea to Sky Regatta in Victoria, B.C., Canada.
