Cal Maritime wins Mustang Team Race with undefeated head-to-head score
MORRO BAY, Calif. – Racing at the Morro Bay Yacht Club did not start until 11:30 a.m. due to lack of wind, but once competition began, Cal Maritime took full advantage of conditions that took place throughout Saturday's round-robin action at the Mustang Team Race by winning all four head-to-head competitions to end the day in first place.
Due to incoming storms on Sunday, race officials decided to cancel that day's action and bestow the regatta championship to the Keelhaulers.
Clay Myers, Ryan Downey and Nick Mueller served as captains for CSUM throughout the weekend with Etienne Quille, Sam Jennings and Logan Chapman comprising sailing's crew.
Together, Cal Maritime defeated UCLA, USC, Cal Poly and UC Santa Cruz to capture this weekend's title.
Sailing will return to action next weekend in San Francisco when it heads to the Treasure Island Sailing Center to compete in the Cal Open Fleet Race.
