VALLEJO, Calif. –
Site of the Rose Bowl Regatta, Cal Maritime's inaugural regatta of the calendar year, sailing will return to the US Sailing Center in Long Beach, California, for the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference's South Designate.

In this PCCSC-hosted event solely open to the conference's 20 institutions, CSUM's dinghy student-athletes will sail CFJs throughout this weekend-long event.

First warning is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and the following morning at 11 a.m. No individual race will start after 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

This is a two-division event with scores from each division combined for each participating PCCSC school's overall score. A complete team is comprised of four eligible sailors (two per boat); teams can only submit one team in the varsity regatta and multiple boats in the JV competition.

Sailing will most likely take place inside Alamitos Bay.

The South Designate ends a near-month-long hiatus for a CSUM dingy team that competed in five regattas, in as many weeks, and captured a pair of event championships prior to its current break.

Cal Maritime finished third and ninth at last year's regatta with three combined bullets recorded by its No. 1 and No. 2 duos. The Keelhaulers' 2 boat recorded the third-lowest score in the B Division, trailing only Hawai'i and Stanford; those schools finished first and second overall.
