Strong finish on Sunday leads to fifth at West Coast Championships
VALLEJO, Calif. – After a challenging start to the West Coast Championship, hosted by San Diego State at Mission Bay Yacht Club in San Diego, Cal Maritime enjoyed four top-five finishes, including one bullet, to climb four spots up the overall leaderboard to finish fifth out of the 17 participating teams.
Behind a pair of freshmen and sophomores, Cal Maritime recorded first place in Sunday's inaugural round, to start the day with much-needed momentum. By finishing second in one race, third and fourth in another, no team within the top five experienced a larger one-day improvement than the Keelhaulers.
Up next for Cal Maritime is next weekend's PCCSC Fall Championship in Santa Barbara, the team's final fall regatta.
