Cal Maritime Women Stay Perfect in Conference
Keelhaulers Protect Home court
After being on the road for over a month, the lady Keelhaulers returned home for a much needed home contest on Saturday night that matched Cal Maritime against the Warriors of William Jessup. In the first half neither team could find the bottom of the net and Cal Maritime would take a slim 4 point lead into the intermission. The 2nd half was a different story with the home team jumping out early to a 20 point lead and then cruising to the 26 point victory, 72-46. Once again the Keelhaulers had 4 players in double figures behind Alexsis Brown's double double (18 points and 10 rebounds). Kelly Stephens continued her hot streak from behind the three point line shooting 4 of 5 from distance. Crystal Clark chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds and Kristina Shiheiber added 11 points off the bench.
After the victory, Head Coach Dave Covell commented, "We have been playing well as a team. Once again we shared the rock and played solid team defense."
With the win, the Keelhaulers move to 3-0 in conference play and remain in a thee way tie for first place with Holy Names and Menlo. In a battle to stay atop the standings, Holy Names visits Morrow Cove on Thursday in what should be a outstanding contest. Come out and support the Keelhaulers.
