Keelhaulers Knock Off Sonoma State

Cal Maritime beat Sonoma State for the first time in school history last night 57-47. The Keelhaulers defensive effort was the key to victory as they held Sonoma State to 27.1% shooting from the field for the game. Karissa Booker led Cal Maritime with a great all around game including 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and no turnovers.
Gabby Davis played well coming off the bench contributing 9 points on 3-6 shooting from 3 pt. range. Javier Brantley led the Keelhaulers in scoring with 18 points on 7-15 shooting.
Maritime took control of the game in the first half with its stellar defense as they raced to a 15 point lead at half time holding Sonoma State to just 18 1st half points.
The Keelhaulers extended their lead to 16 in the 2nd half at the 5:55 mark and then held off a late rally by Sonoma State.
The win improves the Cal Maritime's record to 3-2 on the year. They travel to Cal State Stanislaus to take on another NCAA Division II opponent. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm.
