Haleigh Lis Commits to Cal Maritime
Haleigh Lis signs with Cal Maritime
California Maritime Academy women's basketball coach Mike Warrington has announced the signing of Haleigh Lis for the 2014-2015 season.
Lis, a 6' post, will join the Keelhaulers after transferring from Sierra College. At Sierra, Lis was a valuable contributor to an impressive season that saw Sierra finish 23-9 and advance to the Elite Eight of the California Community College Championships. Lis prepped at Colfax High where she was an all-league player and then went on to Labette Community College on a basketball scholarship before playing for Sierra College this past season.
When asked why she chose Cal Maritime Lis said, "Education...the programs at Cal Maritime seem to be filled with opportunities I would of never have found at any other university. The people attending Cal Maritime also helped with my decision. The students, teachers, and coaches are filled with passion and heart to make sure everyone succeeds."
"Hayleigh is a very active post who runs the floor extremely well. Her energy, enthusiasm and leadership will be great assets to our program. Coming from coach Brandi Murrish's program at Sierra will be a big asset for Haleigh. She played for one of the best programs in the state and in arguably the toughest league which will serve her well in the Cal Pac conference. Hayleigh is not only an outstanding basketball player, but an impressive student as well" said Coach Warrington.
In addition to her contributions to a very successful Sierra basketball season, Haleigh also earned the prestigious Sasha Brown Basketball Scholarship which is given to the Sierra College women's basketball player that best embodies what Sasha represented on the basketball court and in the classroom.
