Joie Camalo Commits to the Keelhaulers

Keelhaulers Bring in Another Winner!

Joie Camalo has signed a letter of intent to play for Cal Maritime in 2014-15. Head Coach Mike Warrington announced that the 5'8" Camalo will join her former Sierra College Wolverine teammate Hayleigh Lis as the 2nd Sierra player to be signed by the Keelhaulers this spring.

At Sierra College this past season Joie was a part of a team that went 23-9 and made it to the Elite Eight of the California Community College Championships. In her two years at Sierra, Camalo was an integral part of the team's success which saw the Wolverines make two Elite Eight appearances, win one Big-8 Championship, and compile a 46-17 overall record which included a 4-2 record in the State Playoffs.

Camalo was named All-Conference at Sierra this past season. She was the Wolverines second leading scorer averaging 12.5 points per game to go along with 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 33% from behind the arc. As a freshman at Sierra, she averaged 11.3 ppg, 4.3rpg and shot 80% from the free throw line.

Coach Warrington feels Camalo with be a great fit for the Keelhaulers, "For us to sign someone of Joie's caliber is really a testament to what our school has to offer academically and athletically. Joie is an excellent player who can shoot the ball from distance, put it on the floor and attack the rim or find the open player. Joie is a fearless competitor who not only brings great basketball skills, but also excellent leadership skills. She helped Sierra win a Conference Championship and make it to two straight Elite 8 appearances, she is a winner!"
